Placing an Order
You can shop securely at Verdant Tea. We take your trust as seriously as we take finding the best teas in China. Our site is SSL secure with 256 bit encryption, and PCI compliance.
Stay in the know. After you place an order, you will immediately receive a copy of your receipt. When your order ships, you will get all the tracking info so that you know exactly where your tea is.
Packed with care. We pack all your teas to order in resealable airtight non-reactive foil-lined pouches. Teas are clearly labeled and each pouch contains clear and easy to follow steeping directions for both western style and Chinese style steeping. All teas are packed in sturdy cardboard boxes with plenty of packing material to protect them on their way to your teacup.
Free sample with every order. We will hand-select a sample based on your order that we think you might enjoy and pack it in with your teas.
Shipped with tracking information. All orders of regular in-stock items outside of the winter holiday season ship within 2 business days via USPS 1st Class. Orders placed during the winter holiday season (Black Friday Weekend & Cyber Monday) will ship within 5 businesses days. If you live in the continental United States, shipments typically spend about 3 business days in transit before delivery. Shipments to Canada usually spend about 1 week in transit, and other international shipments can take 2 or more weeks depending on the destination country. Domestic orders over $60 get a free upgrade to Priority Mail. International Priority Mail is available by sending us a special request, but keep in mind that the additional cost of International Priority shipping ranges from $35-$65, depending on the order size and county being delivered to.
Free Shipping is currently provided for all domestic orders with shipping addresses within the United States. Customers in Canada can earn free shipping with orders of $49+. Smaller orders to Canada ship for a $4.50 flat rate, which covers a small part of the cost of packaging and shipping tea safely and promptly. Please note that the free shipping threshold is applied to the total of an order after any discounts or coupons have been applied.
The flat rate shipping and handling for all other international orders is $11.50.
While we can ship internationally to most places around the world, we are currently unable to ship to the following countries: Australia, Belarus, Ghana, Estonia, Hungary, Indonesia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Nigeria, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine. Also note that international customs duties may apply in your country, and that we do not offer refunds or compensation for additional fees you may be charged by your local customs office.
We have an immense pride in the teas our friends in China entrust to us. We work extremely hard to present them to you properly, fill every order with accuracy and care and ship it promptly. If there is ever a problem with your order, please, let us know. We will work to make it right immediately.
In the event of an error or problem with any item in your order, contact us, and we will send you a prompt replacement or refund for the item(s) in question. We work to resolve issues in a way that lets you know we care, issuing vouchers or sending extra tea as an apology above and beyond the replacement or refund.
Please note that any tea returned to us cannot be resold, and health regulations require us to dispose of it. Given the rarity and limited supply of most of our products, we want to avoid consigning any quantity of them to the waste bin whenever possible. For these reasons, returns based solely on a customer’s dislike of an item cannot be accepted. We always suggest trying a smaller amount of any tea before purchasing it in larger quantities.
We sometimes run promotions and issue coupons that can be applied for a discount on your order. Coupon codes can be applied to an order in your shopping cart, before you proceed to checkout. Just enter the coupon code in the text field labeled “redeem a coupon”, located to the left of the credit card logos in the shopping cart window. Once you have entered the coupon code, you must click the link “update my cart” below the coupon field for the discount to be applied.

When the coupon code has been applied, you will see an additional line item displayed in red between Subtotal and Order Total that describes and factors the applied discount.
Coupons are usually issued with order total minimums or other parameters that must be met for the coupon to be applied. Refer the promotional description of a given coupon for this information.
We also sometimes issue “order vouchers” and/or promotional “tea cash” vouchers which function, and are applied, in the same way as normal coupon codes, except that they do not have order minimum guidelines and can be applied to an order of any amount.
One coupon/voucher code can be applied per order. Tea of the Month Club subscriptions are not eligible for coupon/voucher discounts.
