Dan GuiTea Varietal

Dangui is a relatively new Wuyi hybrid that traces its lineage back to Rou Gui. It has been winning awards across China for its big aromatics, and has been used for both strip style oolong, rolled oolong and green tea. Master Zhang's rolled oolong processing brings out the green thick vegetal notes in Dan Gui, while allowing the more ancestral Rou Gui nutmeg spice to shine through as an accent note.

" Processed as a green, rolled oolong, the Dan Gui varietal tasted very Japanese on the whole, packed with chlorophyll and more thick, rich deep green flavor than any other varietal we tasted. The aroma was full of lilac, elderflower, and sweet spinach. The first sips reminded us of thick matcha. The tea was super sweet, with fruity support notes and massive green flavor. ... "
