Gorgeous Song Dynasty Style blue cups perfect for gongfu tea ceremony. . . .
First used by the “Tea Emperor” Song Huizong at court, the blue glaze style teacups became immensely popular during the Song dynasty for their striking simplicity, and the power of contrast between the green of tea and the blue of the cups. Today, there are very few artists working in the Song dynasty blue glaze style. More popular are porcelain and white glaze cups. When we met the artist at a tea wares exhibition, we were thrilled to see him reviving one our favorite styles, so we bought everything he had- every last cup, thirty in total. We hope that it will encourage him to make more. Each small cup holds about 2 oz of tea.
NOTE: every cup is unique in its red patterning, and may differ slightly from the cups pictures. All cups have at least one splash of red against the blue. Some have several splashes of red. All are gorgeous. Maximum quantity for each transaction is four cups. Adjust quantity in the shopping cart.
