Award-winning potter Zhu Huan is gaining fame for her bold reinterpretations of classic forms, in this case the Shi Piao.
This pot redefines what a shi piao can be, all while showing off both the artist's tremendous skill with the demanding work of building a faceted pot and the artist's incredible clay sourcing and blending with this original deposit Zi Ni.
Typically, a shi piao is all about triangular relationships between pot body, handle, feet and spout, but this takes it a step further by incorporating octagonal geometry in a triangular form with effortless grace. The result looks both modern and ancient.
This teapot is ready to grow deeper and more lustrous with years of use.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Zhu Huan
Zhu Huan was born in China’s pottery capital, Yixing, in 1989.
She graduated from The Wuxi College of Art and Craft in Jiangsu, and focused from the beginning on apprenticeships with the most highly regarded masters of Yixing craft, and won a research fellowship to study under the top ranked Master Cao Yanping.
Over the course of this fellowship, Zhu Huan not only mastered ancient forms, but developed her own distinctive style, gaining praise from collectors and yixing experts.
