The lotus flower thrives and blossoms in the mud, a symbol of the journey from the chaotic to the fully and spectacularly realized,.
With an Yixing pot, this symbolism is especially poignant since the beauty of Yixing comes from mud itself - in this case a spectacular aged Zi Ni clay full of subtle mottling.
Just as the lotus serves as a pedestal for Buddhist sculpture, Zhu Huan's pot uses the lotus as a pedestal for both the potand for the tea it will enrich, growing more lustrous with each session.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Zhu Huan
Zhu Huan was born in China’s pottery capital, Yixing, in 1989.
She graduated from The Wuxi College of Art and Craft in Jiangsu, and focused from the beginning on apprenticeships with the most highly regarded masters of Yixing craft, and won a research fellowship to study under the top ranked Master Cao Yanping.
Over the course of this fellowship, Zhu Huan not only mastered ancient forms, but developed her own distinctive style, gaining praise from collectors and yixing experts.
