Zhu Huan rarely carves her Yixing pottery, but when she does, it is always with the weight of true intention.
This carving runs across the entire pot body, and even over the lid itself. The carving will fill in deeper over time, making for a beautiful contrast against the buffed pot surface to show off the incredible Zi Ni clay. Notice the perfectly elegant lid handle and pot handle that mirror each other and the tall pot body itself providing such a perfect canvas for the calligraphic carving,
The original deposit old Zi Ni clay is warm, rich and mottled, ready to take on a deep patina over a lifetime of use.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Zhu Huan
Zhu Huan was born in China’s pottery capital, Yixing, in 1989.
She graduated from The Wuxi College of Art and Craft in Jiangsu, and focused from the beginning on apprenticeships with the most highly regarded masters of Yixing craft, and won a research fellowship to study under the top ranked Master Cao Yanping.
Over the course of this fellowship, Zhu Huan not only mastered ancient forms, but developed her own distinctive style, gaining praise from collectors and yixing experts.
