We are honored to represent National Master Potter Tang Xianwu when she is able to send us on a stunning museum-level piece like this one.

The name “Wan Zi” is a play on words, referring both to the curved rippling shape of the pot itself, and a reference to a sense of remembrance and nostalgia- a perfect way to sum up this masterwork whose graceful curved facets come together in an organic, settled, perfectly natural and almost effortless-feeling way.

The way the whole pot fits together is difficult to describe - holding the piece, it is perfectly smooth, balanced in the hand, exquisite in a way that only a level of achievement like Tang Xianwu’s can inspire. 

Note the evocative handle’s reference to the traditional Shi Piao form, while the lid handle mirrors the pot’s facets.

Tang Xianwu’s fame affords her access to some of the best clay in the world, and this original deposit Qing Duan Ni is no exception. Even before the pot has been seasoned, it glows with warmth and familiarity
