Born in the ceramics capital Yixing, Wang Jie has always had a deep love for art and culture, particularly for the ancient Yixing tradition. As an apprentice, Wang Jie has benefited from the experience, guidance and inspiration of many seasoned Yixing master craftspeople, developing a solid foundation for her own practice as a potter.

Following her own path developing a distinct Yixing style, Wang Jie has relied on her solid fundamentals, and strived for excellence in artistic vision in setting an individual style. Critically, Wang Jie’s work is meant to be appreciated to its fullest while in use, tying traditional pottery to its roots in traditional gongfu tea.

Over the years, Wang Jie has formed collaborative partnerships with international artists to bring carving, gold laying and calligraphic prowess to her work. Even early in her career, her pots have found their way to many museum collections for their unique beauty.
