Jian Zhan Revival Masterwork Cup #4
Jian Zhan Revival Masterwork Cup #4

Crafted By Ji Yu Fang Lao Long Kiln
This is the first new work we’ve been able to secure from the internationally-renowned Master Xiong Zhonggui in a decade!
Master Xiong was one of the first modern craftspeople to rediscover the techniques of Song Dynasty Jian Zhan craft that had been lost for over 800 years, allowing him to bring out deep, dark, almost glowing patterns in his glaze, and bringing him countless awards and space in permanent museum collections.
The clay for this piece is excavated from historic Song Dynasty Shui Ji kiln sites, and the glaze is mixed from local minerals only, based on original archaeologic research. Master Xiong’s Ji Yu Fang Lao Long Yao Dragon Kiln is built at the site of a Song Kiln to ancient specifications.
Only one in ten cups even survive the intense firing process, and most are already promised to museums, collectors and university level research collections. Bringing in a piece at this level is a rare and exciting occasion.
