This lovely tea pot from Lai Xiaohong is hand built with duan ni and carved with a detailed lotus relief, fish, and calligraphy. The detailed, life-like lotus carving stands in contrast to the pair of abstract fish, like two brush strokes. The lid is perfectly fitted, and the graceful spout and handle are sculpted for a life time of use. The lovely clay will grow more lustrous with careful brewing, and each carved stroke will fill in, contrasting with the smooth body of the pot.
