This fully hand-made Jingdezhen porcelain tea set includes one gaiwan and 4 cups.

The deep, detailed and rich hand-painting on each piece draws heavily on the Classical Chinese ink painting tradition, featuring evocative scenes from the natural world - flowers, gnarled trees, and swaying grasses. Each cup is painted with a different scene.

The gaiwan is inscribed with the phrase "Dao Feng Jiang Jie," which translates to "peerless," a classical expression describing moral attainment and noble intent.

The non-reactive porcelain is fine and lustrous, thin and translucent in the light. 

To complete the the form and meticulous painting of each piece in a set like this, it requires the work of many different specialized craftspeople over about two weeks.
