Varietal
This is a good example of the unique flavor of a bud-dominant pu’er blend. Gong Ting is a technical designation for blends of shu pu’er that use only golden buds and very young small leaves. No large leaf material or long stem goes into a classic gong ting, giving it a very sweet, spiced and focused flavor with a rich velvety texture. This Gong Ting cake has over a decade of age, bringing out deep nutmeg spice and tingling minerality.

'Most pu’er does become more complex over time. Astringency mellows out, darker and richer flavors come through. Textural complexities become more pronounced. Starting with an intriguing young pu’er of high quality with lots of textures and flavors at play will increase your chances of graceful aging.'
