This 2007 shu pu’er from Diyi is pressed into individual 5g tuocha's with small bits of fragrant sticky rice herb - Nuomixiang or Semnostachya menglaensis leaf. The rich grain aromatics accentuate the deep, clean and earthy shu pu’er. True to the smell, this tea really does taste like corn, but with unexpected complexity. Spearmint comes through as a tingling sensation, more of a a minty texture than anything else. Despite the sweet corn flavor, the tea is weightless on the palate and refreshing.

'Most pu’er does become more complex over time. Astringency mellows out, darker and richer flavors come through. Textural complexities become more pronounced. Starting with an intriguing young pu’er of high quality with lots of textures and flavors at play will increase your chances of graceful aging.'
