This special hand picked, hand made tea was picked this year during the very best spring picking window for the He Family's "Da Tian" harvest - picked just after the greenhouse protection was removed. Mr. He personally finished this tea by hand, careful curling and twisting the leaves under gentle heat to lock in the most sweetness possible. The He family was kind enough to let us reserve several kilograms of this extremely limited, special grade harvest. The first Da Tian harvest is special because the very cool weather that requires greenhouse protection for the delicate tea plants over the early spring leads to slow growth and rich sweet, textural intensity. When this greenhouse protection is removed, the plants get their first taste of sunlight, and combine the textural intensity and sweetness of shade-grown tea with the aroma and aftertaste that early sunlight brings out.

  • 'Thankfully 2019-2020 was a mild winter compared to the last two years, meaning that the plants in China’s northernmost tea growing region did not suffer frost damage. The He Family's plants have been able to recover, and this new recovery growth has been rich and tender, a boon for the He Family after so many difficult years.'
