This cake is an historic opportunity to experience true single origin tea. Every leaf in the cake comes from a single numbered wild tree over 1800 years old, hand-picked by Master Zhou and pressed into numbered hand editioned cakes. Tea from wild trees this old makes for a wild sparkling textural experience and a flavor full of incense, camphor and wild medicinal herbs. Only 100 cakes were pressed this year. " Eighteen hundred years ago, China was under the Han Dynasty. Tea as a beverage hadn’t yet been discovered. Tea was being used as a medicine, but not until the Tang did tea become popular as a drink of its own. It was not until the Song that people developed a ceremony around tea, almost a thousand years after this tree sprouted. For us to steep its leaves feels like entering a very holy place, a place worthy of respect.... "
