Master Zhang’s family has tended a variety of tea cultivars in Daping for generations. His tea is fed by sweet mountain springs and grows on the cloud-enveloped peaks of Anxi.
Master Zhang's Rou Gui varietal bushes grow among Tieguanyin fields and wildflowers, and benefit from sweet mountain spring water. Rou Gui is famous for its rich cinnamon flavor, and it is a real treat to taste such strong, sweet steeping cinnamon notes in a green rolled Anxi oolong. In the last few years, Master Zhang has dedicated more of his time to experimenting with different mountain sites and finishing styles for Rou Gui, honing his process. We are excited to share the results of all his hard work. Rou Gui is gaining huge popularity in China because it is one of the most transparent varietals, really picking up the specific textures and aftertastes of its microclimate, so this is a great way to taste the perfect conditions that come together on Master Zhang’s high mountain plot.
