Li Xiaoping is famous for her true Shi Feng Dragonwell, hand-picked from the uniquely shaded mountainside whose soil and water give her tea its unique lingering sweetness and crisp minerality. This year, she decided to try an unprecedented experiment, saving some of her delicate 1st picking budset tea to oxidize in bamboo baskets for about fifteen hours, allowing deep, rich, malty notes to develop before finishing. This process has yielded an incredible black tea whose floral complexity, foresty cooling notes, and buddy texture rivals fine Jin Jun Mei. This is truly a new celebration of what Lion's Peak has to offer.

  • 'The soil of Shi Feng is a unique white sand and quartz mixture that lends an unmistakable minerality to every tea growing on the slopes of Shi Feng. The actual Dragon Well ( long jing ) at the base of Shi Feng is a source of sweet, clean water. This water flows in mountain springs and aquifers and feeds the tea with sweet mineral water.'
