Gongfu Tea is a joyous celebration of leisure, of the time we carve to appreciate beauty, connect with nature and with each other.

This new masterwork from National award-winning Master Potter Tang Xianwu is her tribute to this concept of leisure. The unique coiled rings of this teapot are suitably abstract for a pot called Si Yi or “Contemplating Leisure,” but the form itself evokes the ripples on a still pond when skipping a stone, or the coils of a basket woven from reeds on the riverbank.

Either way, there is an effortless sense of leisure inevitable to the form, something that only Tang Xianwu could convey with such power and poise.

The pot is a tactile pleasure to hold, with a lid that fits so smoothly - a unique rippling shape and a strong smooth pour. The stunning yuan kuang clay is an all natural old deposit Di Cao Qing Ni full of deep speckling and complexity ready to grow over many years.

Tang Xian Wu has gained steady fame and accolades over the years, winning awards at every competition, so we are excited to still be able to offer her work due to a long working relationship.
