Masterwork “Jixiang Ruyi” Yixing Mug
Masterwork “Jixiang Ruyi” Yixing Mug
Crafted By Tang Xian Wu
Our first-ever hand-crafted Yixing tea mug from national award-winning Tang Xianwu, this stunning gallery-level piece references the classical Ruyi motif, a symbol of auspicious abundance and joy, fitting for a mug ready to brew up fine tea.
While Tang Xianwu’s work focuses around gongfu ceremony, she has become interested in the way tea fits into everyday life, and is ready to leave her mark on the casual joy we get watching leaves dancing in a mug, slowly sinking to the bottom. Indeed, this style has become wildly popular for brewing aged white teas, and as always, fresh curled green teas like Laoshan Biluochun.
The old deposit Di Cao Qing clay shines with warmth, and will continue to get more lustrous and deeper with use, giving back texture and complexity with every brew.
This museum-level piece is ready for a lifetime of joyful brewing. Truly, it is hard to describe the feeling of Tang Xianwu’s work in the hand, the way it all fits together, the balance, the way it reflects light.
