    • HUANG JIN GUI + TIEGUANYINTea Varietal

Jin Guanyin is a unique varietal made by grafting Huang Jin Gui onto Tieguanyin root stock. This ‘best of both worlds’ hybrid combines the deep lingering aftertaste, and textural power of true Tieguanyin with the huge flavor and aroma of Huang Jin Gui for a luscious tropical taste experience. While more common in Anxi as a rolled oolong, the Li Family cultivates several groves of Jin Guanyin in their rocky volcanic soil in the Wuyi Ecological Preserve. The tea builds up big sweetness from a slow mist-shaded spring growing season and takes on a deep textural beauty in Mr. Li’s expert hands during final roasting.

  • 'The emperor sent the symbolic red robes of nobility to the farmer who saved his wife, granting him land and status. In gratitude, the farmer named the tea Big Red Robe, and continued to climb the cliff each year to pick tea for the empress to remind her of their shared home in the Wuyi Mountains.'
