There is truly nothing like real Jingdezhen porcelain, hand-made by a master potters and fired to perfection. The highly vitrified, high-fired Jingdezhen porcelain is perfectly non-reactive and more ideally suited than any other material to reflecting the true aromatics of a tea. The gaiwan has been thrown so thin that light glows through the porcelain. Brewing tea in Jingdezhen lifts the aromatics even more than Dehua porcelain, and preserves the true heart of the tea. The lovely white of this gaiwan is the perfect contrast for serious tasting. The inscription, “Qing Shi Zong Nian Dai,” references the inspiration of the Qing dynasty in this piece.
