This elegant long dan, or Dragon’s Egg teapot was handcrafted by Lai Xiaohong using a fine speckled Di Cao Qing Ni. The crowning achivement of this teapot is the subtle and fine lotus relief. Unlike carving, which can be done with dry clay and a pick, a relief has to be hand built onto the teapot body. The wide spout bodt curves off the dragon egg shape gracefully, and the generous strainer allows for a smooth pour. The lid fits with masterful precision and turns smoothly.
